Brazilian secures his best starting position of the season and runs second in the Stock Car main race

Back at Circuito dos Cristais in Curvelo, Minas Gerais, Sérgio Sette Câmara delivered another strong performance in the 2026 Stock Car Pro Series season.

Racing at home and now with greater knowledge of the circuit, Sérgio and Team Tambasa RC found an excellent setup for the #7 car. The progress was especially evident in qualifying, where he advanced to Q3 and secured second place, his best grid position since joining the championship.

With the top 12 reversed for the Sprint grid, Sette Câmara started 11th and finished Saturday’s race in the same position.

On Sunday, starting from the front row, the Brazilian produced one of his strongest performances of the season. Sérgio remained among the frontrunners from the start and, after the pit-stop cycle, was running second, closing in on the leader and showing the pace to fight for victory.

During the second half of the race, however, the car began to develop technical issues that affected its performance. Despite trying to stay in contention, Sérgio was eventually forced to retire while running in second place.

“It was frustrating because we had a very competitive car and were genuinely fighting at the front. We achieved our best qualifying result of the season and I felt very comfortable in the race until the problems started. That is part of motorsport. The most important thing is that we showed once again that we have the pace to fight at the front,” said Sérgio.

Despite the outcome, Curvelo delivered a positive message for the remainder of the championship. Racing at home, Sette Câmara once again demonstrated his potential to fight for leading positions and confirmed the progress made throughout the season.
