Brazilian finishes second in the main race at the renovated Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna

The result Sérgio Sette Câmara had been building towards since the start of the season finally arrived in Goiânia. The Team Tambasa RC driver scored his first Stock Car Pro Series podium with second place in Sunday’s main race at the fully renovated Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna.

Unlike the opening rounds, Goiânia was not completely unfamiliar territory for Sette Câmara. He had raced there in a Porsche Cup endurance event in 2021, and that previous experience helped him settle quickly into the weekend.

Sérgio was second fastest in the opening practice, only 0.255s from the top, and remained competitive in the second session. He then produced his strongest qualifying performance of the season, reaching Q3 and securing third place.

“From the first practice we could see that we had a competitive car,” said Sette Câmara. “Reaching Q3 and qualifying third was important because it confirmed that the pace we had shown in practice was genuine.”

Saturday’s race ended with a 12th-place finish, but the breakthrough came on Sunday. Over 36 laps, Sérgio stayed in contention at the front and crossed the line second, only 6.365 seconds behind winner Gaetano Di Mauro.

“It is a very special result,” Sérgio said. “We knew there would be an adaptation period when we came to Stock Car. We scored Top-10 finishes in Curvelo and Cascavel, showed strong speed at Interlagos and now we have converted that progress into a podium.”

The second-place finish marked a major milestone in Sette Câmara’s rookie Stock Car campaign and confirmed the steady progress made by both driver and team.

“When you reach the podium for the first time, naturally you start thinking about the next step,” he added. “I’m very happy with second place, but we know we can continue improving. The goal now is to return to the podium and fight for our first win.”
