Brazilian tackles a Stock Car in the wet for the first time and scores two Top-10 finishes at Velocitta

Sérgio Sette Câmara reached the halfway point of his rookie Stock Car Pro Series season firmly among the championship contenders. Despite missing the podium at Velocitta, the Brazilian scored two Top-10 finishes and left Mogi Guaçu with 455 points — the same total as Felipe Massa, who held second place on the tiebreak.

The sixth round brought a completely new challenge. Rain fell throughout Friday at one of the most technical circuits on the Brazilian calendar, giving Sette Câmara his first opportunity to drive a Stock Car in wet conditions.

The learning curve was immediate. Sérgio placed 24th in the opening practice, then jumped to second in the next session with a 1:41.477 lap, only 0.153s off the fastest time.

“It was a very important Friday for me,” said Sérgio. “I had never driven this car in the rain, and Velocitta is already a very technical circuit. There was a lot to learn at the same time. By the second session we had made a big step, and finishing second showed how quickly we were able to absorb the information.”

Sette Câmara qualified 15th and therefore remained outside the top 12 subject to the Sprint grid reversal. Starting 15th, he gained seven positions to finish eighth in Saturday’s race.

On Sunday, he again started 15th and worked his way forward to tenth, adding another valuable Top-10 finish.

“Championships are not made only from weekends when everything works perfectly,” he said. “You also need to maximise the difficult ones. We learned a lot here, scored important points and leave even more motivated for the second half of the season.”

After six of 12 rounds, Sette Câmara had 455 points, tied with Massa on points for second in the championship, with Massa ahead on the official tiebreak.
