The Brazilian led one of the days in Barcelona and is ready for the beginning of the season
The traditional Catalunya Circuit de Barcelona (ESP) hosted the last three days of FIA Formula 2 pre-season testing during the week of Carnival. The DAMS driver in car # 5, the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | BMG | MRV | CCR | CBMM | CEMIG | GASMIG | COPASA) has been working hard since the pre-season started in Jerez de la Frontera at the end of last month, and he managed to end the pre-season as the third fastest in the category.
In his home track, because he has been living in Barcelona since 2015, Sette Câmara and the DAMS team have prioritized the development of car adjustments in different situations. There were race simulations, qualifying session simulations, starts and even pit stops. Very calm and attentive, the carried on improving his work with the French team and, with that, he was able to do much better in relation to the first battery of tests.
Sette is much more adapted to his new set up and completed 212 laps on the Catalan track and, yesterday, on the second day of activities, he completed 86 laps. A total of 986 km were done in three days.
At the moment he was authorised by the team to accelerate to the maximum, simulating a fast lap in a qualifying session, Sérgio showed his potential. In the morning session of Wednesday (6) the Brazilian registered the time of 1’27s392 thus getting the best mark of the day. In the three-day test in Barcelona, Sérgio Sette was the third best on the track, thus concluding the F2 pre-season in the Top3.
“The test situations are very fragile to define the real condition of each competitor for the season. There is no inspection and, at each moment, the conditions of the track and the tyres vary a lot from pit to pit. I leave here with the feeling of accomplishment. We did everything that was on our schedule, the car is ready and now we will prepare well for the opening of the Championship on the simulator, and remain confident for Bahrain, “concluded the 20-year-old.
