In his second participation in the category the pilot won a second and a third places
The Curitiba International Racetrack, in Paraná, received this weekend (July 25.26 and 27) the activities of the fifth round of F3 Brazil. With 19 cars on the grid, the class achieved an historical record and, in a season of high growth, it mixed experienced pilots with the promises mixed from kart races.
The “mineiro” Sérgio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil of Brazil / CEMIG / TAESA / MBR / Tear Têxtil / Lalubema / Patrus Transportes / Miplan), who currently lives in Spain, joined F3 Brazil and, since the Interlagos race, disputed at exactly 60 days ago, he joined the group of pilots competing in this Event. Very expressively, experiencing only his second participation in the Championship, he managed to reach the podium in the two races this weekend.
The programming was opened on Friday afternoon, with the first free practice session. Having never been on the track, Sette Câmara managed to record the time of 1m13s525 which gave him the third place overall and the second of category “A”. Excited, on Saturday morning, he went to the second official test and, doing some testing on his equipment, he focused on the preparation for the two races that were to come.
Yet at the end of the morning it was held the qualifying session. Unfortunately, Sette Câmara’s car dis not have the same good performance seen in free practice sessions and, with a time of 1m13s113 he assumed the seventh position of the overall grid. Following the Saturday programming, F3 Brazil had its first race of the fifth round in the late afternoon. In the afternoon the cars went fast on the Paraná circuit. Serginho, having effectively his first start – since the two races in Sao Paulo were initiated with safety car – started his car a little early and was penalized with a slow passage through the pits. After fulfilling the punishment the pilot followed on the dispute, already far from the first positions, but the action of the safety car changed a bit the story. At that point the peloton was regrouped and as a result, after restart, Sette Camara made a great recovery race and managed to finish the race in third position of category “A”.
His result in the general grid gave fim, for the Sunday’s race, the pole position. Very concentrated Serginho followed for the race. At the start his car lost a bit of grip causing him to fall to the fifth position. In a race of recovery, however, he managed to perform a strong pace and, at the end of 26 laps, he received the checkered flag in the second position, doing with his teammate a “duet” of Cesário F3’ team.
“It was undoubtedly a weekend of hard work and dedication. The car wasn’t so good and we all had a lot of work to, in the course of the activities, the times were improving and, logically, also the positions. I want to thank the whole team for the commitment and, frankly, I am very happy to go back home with my first two trophies of the Formula-3”, commented the 16-year old pilot.
