Brazilian of the Dragon Penske finished both rounds of last weekend
After two months of recess following the Mexican E-Prix, the Formula E World Championship came back to its calendar last weekend with both races of the Rome E-Prix, in Italy. The races, valid for the fourth and fifth rounds of the World Championship, took place on the streets of the millenary Italian city and had nearly 30.000 people on the circuit.
Driving the car #7, of the North American team Dragon Penske, the Brazilian driver Sergio Sette Camara, 23 years old, came excited for the competition, after weeks of intense work on the technical headquarters of the team, in Silverstone, England. In the time in between races, the engineering professionals, as well as both drivers, put great effort in testing innovations that could bring more pace to the Penske EV-5 models.
In this scenario, the team arrived in Rome for the battles of the third round of the year. Since the first practice, the team´s expectation built on the headquarters became reality when, effectively, the cars of the Dragon Penske team had way better performances than in the previous round. Sergio Sette had the 10th best position in the first qualifying session, and in the second, even with the tests of a few components, had the 17th place.
On the first race, valid for the fourth round of the Championship, Sergio had a recovery race. With good pace and being able to spare energy in essential moments, the Brazilian evolved 7 places, finishing the race in the 15th place.
On the Sunday, after the 14th place in the third free practice, Sergio was very near to the qualifying battles. With the time of 1m40s012, the young driver secured the 10th place on the grid, for the race that would start two hours later.
The race of the fifth round of the Championship was extremely disputed. Focused on finishing among the top 10 and scoring the team’s first points of the year, Sette Câmara starred great battles throughout the race and came really close to accomplishing his goal. However, after receiving a touch of the current champion of the category, lost a few places and finished on the 12th place.
“Since the practices we knew we had a really fast car within the 220kW limitations. In that expectation, I gave my best in both qualifying sessions.Unfortunaly, on Sunday, I exaggerated a bit and went to the safety barrier. Still, the weekend was of improvement. We got a punishment on Saturday, I started at the back of the grid and, little by little, I got positions and truly evolved on the race classification. On the other hand, on Sunday, I got a good lap on qualifying and, in the race, I was always on the direct battle for top10. The result was a bit frustrating because we had the pace and the equipment to score our first points of the year. Anyhow, what we take of positives is the visible improvement of our pack and I’m sure that if we can keep that and evolve a bit further, we are going to be able to go through to the qualifying battles and, as a consequence, finishing the races in the points.”, concluded the 23 years old driver.
The sixth round of the Formula E World Championship will take place in Monaco, on the simple round system, on April 30.
