The driver of ERT team enters his fifth season in the competition.
After a long wait of five months, the Formula E World Championship will open its annual competition calendar this Saturday (13). In Mexico City, the capital of the country with the same name, the fastest electric cars on the planet will kick off their 10th season.
Experienced in the competition, young Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara arrived in the Mexican capital on Wednesday afternoon (10) and is excited to get back behind the wheel. In the same team he competed for last year, now adopting the name ERT Formula E Team, the driver from Belo Horizonte believes he can have a season with more consistent results, aiming for the TOP10 in each race.
“I’m very happy with the start of the new season. I spent a long period in Brazil recharging my energies with family and friends, but without neglecting physical preparation and simulator work. I had the joy of competing again in the 500 Miles Kart race with great friends, we won, and now my total focus is on Formula E Season 10. Although we are opening a new season, there won’t be major changes to the car I raced last year. We can expect some improvements, and I believe that with a lot of dedication, we can achieve better results and consistency throughout the year. I can’t wait to get back on the track,” commented the 25-year-old driver.
The competition this weekend will take place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the same track that hosts Formula 1 races, but in a hybrid format that combines street sections with the racetrack. Sette Câmara likes the circuit a lot and is eager to compete there again.
“Just like in Monaco, here in Mexico, we compete in the same place as Formula 1. Due to the city’s high altitude, the air is thinner, and the effects of the slipstream are reduced. So, we won’t have those races with large groups formed as we saw last year. Another cool thing here in Mexico is sector 3 when we enter the stadium, and you can feel the crowd’s vibe. About 40,000 people are expected for the race, and that energy is really cool. You truly feel embraced by the fans. Our car had an interesting performance on this track, and for this Saturday, we hope to unlock all the potential we’ve developed throughout the year to secure a good final position,” concluded the driver.
The weekend’s schedule begins with the first free practice session on Friday, followed by another practice session and the race on Saturday. All activities will be broadcast live on BandSports as well as on YouTube through the Grand Prix and Goat channels.
