Sochi Olympic Park, Russia, built for the 2014 Winter Olympics, has been hosting the penultimate stage of the F2 World Championship since 2018. The street circuit, created around the park’s facilities, marks a very important moment for the classification and promises to fire up, even more, the disputes. In 2019 the track will certainly be the scene of an epic battle for the first positions of the Championship that, between the fifth and second-placed there is only a difference of 15 points.
One of the TOP5 of the Championship fighting for positions in the standings and a fierce driver since the opening of the season, the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara(YOUSE | BMG | MRV | CCR | CBMM | CEMIG | GASMIG | COPASA) is already in Sochi and hopes to achieve an expressive result just like last year.
Sette comes from a busy weekend at Monza stage. After an unfair penalty, received in the first race and a small hit in the second race, the driver fell from third to fifth place in the standings. Still, aware of the good record of the team and their people in Sochi, they believe that better days are coming and more important points can be earned over the weekend.
Designed by German designer Herman Tilke, Sochi’s track is one of the longest on the list on the calendar with its 5,848 meters long. In all, there are 18 turns and an impressive full-throttle stretch where cars go around half the length of the stadium. During the lap, 59% of it is at full speed, reaching 310 km / h. The average is around 194 km / h. The first race will last 28 laps and the second one will be 21. Unlike the countries of Central Europe, the city of Sochi has a six-hour time difference against Brazil, thus creating different times from which the fans are. used to it.
“After the Monza race, the Championship took on a new face and at this time the competition became very fierce and with several drivers fighting for the top places. I have prepared a lot in the past few days and I believe we will have a very positive weekend. Our team had a double win in the first race here last year, and I’m confident we’ll have good points possibilities, ”commented the 21-year-old.
