The website Grande Prêmio carried out a popular poll and Sergio received 1/3 of the votes
For the 10th consecutive year the website Grande Prêmio, one of the most respected publications of Brazilian motorsport, promoted between Dec 10 and 17 a poll to determine the best Brazilian driver of the season. With 33.9% of the votes, Sergio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | BMG | MRV), who raced in the F2 World Championship, was awarded this important title for the first time in his career.
Using their own format to define the finalists, Grande Prêmio journalists chose their top five names from a total of 15 categories. After having defined the TOP5 contestants, the site opened the poll for popular voting.
In 2018, 2017 and 2016 the achievement went to Lucas Di Grassi. In 2015 the winner was Nelsinho Piquet and in 2014 Rubens Barrichello. In addition to Sette Câmara, this year’s contestants for the popular vote were the drivers Felipe Fraga (Stock Car / LeMans), Felipe Nasr (IMSA / FE), Lucas Di Grassi (FE / WEC) and Daniel Serra (Stock Car / LeMans).
“Winning the poll for best Brazilian driver of the season, held by a site of great credibility and respected like Grande Prêmio, really makes me very proud. I had a slightly different year than I imagined, but I managed to be very fast, win races, have poles-positions and, in the last stage of the year, I managed to achieve my goal by securing the Super-License for the F1. I want to thank Grande Prêmio for the initiative and everyone who participated and voted for me, ”said the young man from Belo Horizonte.
The final score of the 2019 Best Brazilian driver award was as follows:
1st – 33.9% – Sérgio Sette Câmara
2nd – 28.1% – Daniel Serra
3rd – 22.8% – Lucas Di Grassi
4th – 9.3% – Felipe Nasr
