On the training day for rookies, the Brazilian driver recorded the second best time
After the activities of the fifth stage of the FE World Championship, in Morocco, the teams remained on the Marrakesh track this Sunday (1st) when the first collective test session of the year was held for rookie pilots.
After a successful participation in the F2 in the last three years, the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara was recently announced as a reserve and test pilot for the North American team GEOX DRAGON. He had his debut on board an electric car.
Together with the team’s technicians and engineers, he prepared himself a lot for the activities and with humility, which has always been one of the hallmarks of his career, he tried to learn as much as possible about the specifics of the car and, also, about the differences that involve tests with electric cars.
With car # 7, which for several moments was the number he used in his career, the 21-year-old started to adapt to the car and the Moroccan circuit. At the end of the day, with 42 laps completed, Sette was the second fastest with the 1m16s930 mark. The fastest of the day was New Zealander Nick Cassidy, the current Super Formula champion.
“It was a great day. I had a completely new experience, different from anything I had driven in my entire life. The team gave me a lot of information, I didn’t make any big mistakes and I improved my performance with each entry on the track. I managed to do a lot of laps, testing different setups for qualifiers and race situations. In addition, I also tested the “Attack Mode”, something specific to the FE. I also noticed a lot of difference in the driving during the qualifiers when you have a total of 250 kW of power and for the race we have 200 kW. All the braking and acceleration points change. Finally, in the race simulation, there is a whole strategy for saving energy and using the energy regeneration lever during the race. I am grateful for the opportunity and the attention that the team has given me and I hope, soon, to be able to accelerate this car again ”, commented the driver.
