After a difficult weekend in Spain, the Brazilian driver wants to score again in Monaco
The F2 World Championship is back this weekend for the fourth round of the year. Competing in the # 5 car for the French team DAMS, Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | BMG | CCR | CBMM | CEMIG | GASMIG | COPASA) has already landed in the Principality of Monaco which, as in every year, will host the races in streets of the capital Monte Carlo.
In his third season in the F2, Sette is going through a year of great expectation since he was pointed out as one of the main competitors of the year. After two podiums in the opening race in Bahrain, he was still excited about the challenges to come, but he was not very lucky. In Azerbaijan, in the first race, he was hit by an opponent while the safety car was still in the track, and had to leave the race, also spoiling his results also for the second race. In Spain, after a difficult situation in the pit stop of the first race, his car still broke preventing him from completing the race and, furthermore, forcing him to start Sunday’s race at the end of the group on a circuit where overtaking is extremely difficult.
That is water under the bridge. Sergio arrived today in Monaco well prepared for the fourth round of the year. After several hours of testing and rigorous physical preparation last week, the 21-year-old is ready to return to the fight for the top positions in the Championship.
The full lap at the Monaco circuit is 3,337 meters in length. Its layout consists of 19 turns and is considered the narrowest of the Championship. The first race will have 42 laps and the second 30 laps. All racers change gears 36 times during a lap. The maximum speed that the F2 cars achieve in Monte Carlo is 265 km / h, at the end of the straight after the tunnel. Besides all this, the competition weekend in Monaco has its schedule completely different from the other stages. The free practice session, as well as the qualifying session, takes place on Thursday. On Friday the cars return to the track for the first race and finally on Saturday, they do the second and last race of the weekend.
After the first six stages of the Championship, Sette Câmara is the sixth in the general standings of the competition with 33 points.
“I can say that I’m very excited for the race this weekend. Whoever follows me knows that I love street circuits and undoubtedly a win in Monaco is a memory to treasure for the rest of my life. We have a very good set and the results have already shown this. I want to be able to do a spectacular job in the free practice so we can find a perfect fit for the qualifying session. To get ahead in Monte Carlo is practically the guarantee of an excellent result, “said the Dams driver.
