E-Prix of Marrakesh the start of the final straight of the World F-E
This weekend, between July 1 and 2, Marrakesh – capital of Morocco, will host the 10ª round of the Formula E World Championship drivers and teams have already landed on the African track, which, since 2020, has not received the activities of the competition.
In his second full season in F-E, the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara arrives at the city circuit Moulay El Hassan willing to extract the maximum power of his Penske EV-5 of the American team, Dragon Penske. On the other hand, in a rather special way, Sette remembers good memories of the track, once his first contact with a car of the category was exactly on that track, when he participated in a training for rookies in early 2020.
The track has 12 corners, 2,971 km long and feature medium/high speed – something quite different from the rest of the tracks of the season. The attack mode will be located in corner 3, and the most advantageous place to activate the 25 kW of extra power is the longest straight line of the circuit, located at the end of the last sector, between corners 10 and 11.
The official weekend schedule starts this Friday with a free practice session. On the morning of Saturday, the cars hit the track for another practice that will be followed by the qualifying and finally the e-Prix that will start at 13h this Saturday.
“I am happy to return to Marrakesh and be able to walk again on the track that I had my first experience with a Formula E car. This weekend, in addition to the natural preparation for the race, we are paying special attention to the temperature of the battery. We will have the hottest round of the season with a forecast of 32ºC room temperature; the asphalt will certainly be over 50ºC. This worries us because if the batteries have very high temperature the car simply enters safe mode and stops wherever it is. The engineers are working on solutions to this problem and, of course, on improving the overall performance of the car so that we can get our first points of the year”, explained the driver of 24 years old.
