GEOX DRAGON signs Sérgio Sette Câmara as Test and Reserve Driver in ABB FIA Formula E
GEOX DRAGON is pleased to announce the appointment of Sérgio Sette Câmara to be one of the Team’s Test and Reserve Drivers for Season 6 of the FIA Formula E Championship. The young Brazilian will also pilot one of the Team’s Penske EV-4s in the upcoming in-season rookie test on March 1st following the Marrakesh E-Prix.
Sérgio grew up racing karts in Brazil, and moved to Europe permanently in 2014, and joined the FIA Formula 3 Championship a year later. After two seasons of success in F3, Sérgio graduated to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017, where in the last two seasons, he has scored a total of three wins, eighteen podiums, and three pole positions finishing towards the top of the Driver’s Championship.
The PENSKE EV-4 will be Sérgio’s first time behind the wheel of an electric race car. “I can’t wait to drive a Formula E car for the first time,” says Sérgio. “Working with the Team at GEOX DRAGON in Silverstone has been a great experience so far, and we will continue to work hard to make improvements on the PENSKE EV-4 package this season.”
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with GEOX DRAGON this season,” Sérgio continued, “it is a great opportunity, and I thank Jay Penske for entrusting me with this role. I am looking forward to the test in Marrakesh, and I am excited to continue my work on our Season 6 package and our simulation tools.”
Jay Penske, Owner of GEOX DRAGON and PENSKE AUTOSPORT, commented that “with Sérgio’s addition to the Team, we are fortunate to now have what I believe to be the best all-around, race and test line-up in the series. Sérgio is a promising young driver that has demonstrated his raw speed and racecraft throughout the junior single-seater categories. I look forward to seeing the results of his test in Marrakesh and his work developing our current race package and the simulation tools we need to return to the front of the most competitive grid in Motorsport.”
