The Brazilian was the fastest driver in the last round and is confident for the penultimate race of the year

This season in the F2 World Championship is close to an end. Drivers and teams are getting prepared for the next double rounds, which will certainly bring plenty of excitement, and possibly news, in the dispute for the first positions in the Championship standings.

In his second season in the category, the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | Banco BMG | MRV | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG | Usiminas | Americanet | Lubrax) currently ranks 6th in the standings, with 142 points. After a few mechanical problems and the accident in Monaco, the young man from Belo Horizonte sees, in these two final races of the year, the chance to keep the good results that he achieved in the previous rounds.

Even though it’s been baptized as Sochi Autodrom, the Russian track is actually a street circuit. Surrounded by walls on both sides, the circuit was designed by famous German architect Herman Tilke, inside the premises of the Sochi Olympic Park, built for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Its tracing of 5.814 meters is quite long but fairly challenging. In its fastest point the F2 cars will reach up to 310 km/h and altogether 44 gear shifts are expected in every lap.

This will be the F2’s first time competing in Sochi. Thus, the preparation for drivers and teams in the simulators was really important, aiming to leave everything well on track. After all, the F2 Championship has only one 45-minute practice session before the qualifying session.

“This will be a very different weekend. The track is new to most of the drivers and, with that in mind, I believe that those who have dedicated more in the simulator will have a better advantage. The circuit’s design is quite interesting. Even though it’s a street circuit it is pretty fast and I believe that it will offer at least two stretches good for overtaking. This reminds me a lot of the Baku circuit, my favorite in the calendar. I hope to keep my trajectory of the last races and to keep scoring many points” commented the 20-year-old driver.
