The World Championship of electrical cars got to the new track of Jakarta
Next Saturday, June 4, the Formula E World Championship crosses the planet and lands in distant Indonesia. On the island of Java, specifically in the Park of Ancol Beach, the circuit was specially assembled toreceive the activities of the 9th stage of the 2022 season.
For the first time in the country, the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara, who competes in car #7 of the American team Dragon Penske Autosport, is looking forward to the battles of an E-Prix in a completely new circuit for everyone.
“It’s going to be a pretty cool challenge to speed up this Jakarta track. It is a layout that brings the many challenges of a street track in a very beautiful park. We have stretches of sloped track, the already traditional undulations of a floor not prepared for racing and a mixture of high speed sectors with very technical curves”, explained the 24 year old. The layout of Ancol Beach has a total length of 2,370 meters permeated by 18 curves.
Sette and the Dragon team prepared heavily in the team’s simulator at Silverstone, England. “We workedexhaustively in order to know the layout and search for the best references for braking and curve contour. The software we have in the team is very evolved and even thefloor granulation is possible to notice while we are training. In a layout that will be new to everyone, every detail in this previous dedication can make a big difference in the first activities of the race weekend”, completed Sette Câmara.
After his best starting position of the season, when he left from 7th place in the Berlin E-Prix, Sergio prefers to be cautious in expectations for this round and seeks to pass ease when talking about the car. “We are improving the condition of our car and we are searching intelligent solutions to some structural problems such as high energy consumption. It is no use making a big prognosis for a new track, however, we will dedicate ourselves to proceed to the battles of the qualifying. Then, for the race, depending on our starting position, the main focus will be to conquer the first points of the season”, concluded the driver from Belo Horizonte.
The city of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, has a time zone of 10 hours ahead of the official time of Brasilia. In this way, all the programming of the weekend, it will be performed on Friday night and Saturday morning for the Brazilian audience.
