After a victory in Austria, the Brazilian wants to continue going up in the standings
This weekend, the traditional Silverstone racetrack in England hosts the seventh double round of the F2 World Championship. The event, which marks the start of the second half of the season, will have a special challenge for Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | BMG | MRV | CCR | CBMM | CEMIG | GASMIG | COPASA). Coming from two weekends where he scored 55 points for the classification, the driver wants to continue with a high score and to reduce his difference to the Championship leader.
Sérgio knows the English racetrack very well. He has raced there for four times and his first official test in an F1 car was also there in July 2016. The track opened just after World War II in 1947. Together with Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, and Monaco, it is among the most traditional on the F1 calendar. Its circuit 5,891 meters in length and has characteristics of a high-speed track. On a full lap, the F2 drivers shift gears for 30 times and remain 60% of the time with full throttle. With several high-speed turns, the cars use the maximum level of downforce and reach an average speed of 212 km/h.
Sette arrives quite enthusiastic to the English circuit. After almost two years, the driver has returned to winning a race in the last Grand Prix in the Red Bull Ring and wants to continue in this ascent to try to shorten the gap in relation to the leader of the Championship, the Dutchman Nyck DeVries. “I’m really excited about this weekend. I really like the Silverstone track. The course is very high speed, you clip the kerbs a lot and, on the other hand, it has quite technical corners in the first sector. Our car performed very well at Red Bull Ring, which is also a high-speed track, and with that, we believe we will have a good car here again, “said the 21-year-old.
