The fifth round of the F2 World Championship opens a sequence of three race weekends
The long awaited news for the Brazilian driver, Sérgio Sette Câmara, 20, took place this Thursday (21) morning in Le Castellet, France. At the Medical Center in Paul Ricard Autodromo, where the fifth round of the F2 World Championship will take place this weekend, the driver has been released by FIA doctors and can therefore compete normally for the rest of the season.
Serginho, as he is affectionately called by the Brazilian fans, suffered an accident in the qualifying session in Monaco three weeks ago when he suffered a dislocation in his right wrist and was prevented from competing. Returning to his residence in Barcelona, he underwent surgery with Dr. Xavier Mir Bulló, the physician responsible for the Moto GP and then came to Brazil for recovery. In Belo Horizonte he fulfilled a rigorous schedule of physiotherapy and, in record time, managed to be 100% recovered and able to return, still in this round, to the cockpit of the # 18 car of the Carlin team.
After a thrilling season start, with two podium finishes in the first round of the World Championship and again a very good performance in the GP of Azerbaijan for the second round of the year, the driver suffered with electronic problems in his car in the GP of Spain and then the accident at the Monaco Grand Prix. So, from being the vice-leader in the Championship, today he occupies the seventh place, with 46 points.
Leaving behind the problems and fully recovered from the injury, Sette arrives in Le Castellet very excited for the rest of the season. On this track, at the beginning of March, the first tests of the preseason were made, where the Carlin team did very well having their two cars in the first two places. The French track, which has never received an official Formula 2 race, is one of the most challenging and safe in the world. For many years the track was awarded the HTTT – High Tech Test Track. Its circuit of 5,821 meters has 16 curves. During the lap, the driver must change gears 40 times and develop a top speed of 302 km / h.
“I am very happy to have been approved by FIA and able to continue my F2 season. Thank God, the support of my family, my friends, and all the messages I received, I was able to do my best to be fully recovered today. I hope to start writing a new page for this season tomorrow and, of the 16 remaining stages for the World Cup, I want to get the most points, “explained the YOUSE representative | BMG Bank | MRV | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG | Usiminas.
