Abu Dhabi’s event was the last of the Championship and highlighted a great performance by the Brazilian driver

The second season of the F2 World Championship ended this Sunday the 25th. The competition, which replaced the GP2 Series, was played in 12 double rounds and completed a total of 24 stages.
In his second year in the category, the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | Banco BMG | MRV | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG | Usiminas | Americanet | Lubrax) ended his participation with the sixth place in the Championship with 164 points and with a great amount of very expressive results.

Sergio’s year of Sérgio Sette was marked by eight podiums, a pole position, and fairly consistent. Considered to be one of the most difficult seasons, the 20-year-old Brazilian driver was extremely competitive and, whenever he had the equipment in competitive conditions, he took his car to the dispute of the first places.

On the other hand, among the 25 classified competitors, Câmara was one of the drivers that most suffered from mechanical problems. In a year marked by the debut of the new car, engine and electronic system, several mechanical problems plagued the drivers on the grid of the F2 and unfortunately, the # 18 car was one that had many setbacks. Other than that, with the accident in the qualifying session at the Monaco Grand Prix, Sette missed two important races in a weekend where he clearly had a chance to even start from pole position.

ONE RACE-WEEKEND TO FORGET

The 23rd and 24th rounds of the F2 Championship events were held at the Yas Marina Race Track in Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In a weekend that began in a strange way, the cars of the Carlin team did not go very well in the free practice and in the qualifying sessions, Sette got the 10th time.

To make matters worse, both on Sunday and Saturday’s race, Sergio’s car’s clutch system did not arm as expected in both starts of the weekend making the car stall at the grid on both occasions. In this way, leaving both times at the end of the grid, the Brazilian had to do recovery races, but, was not able to make it to the scoring zone.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE CARLIN TEAM SAVED THE WEEKEND

In a season where above all Carlin relied on the speed and consistency of its two drivers, winning the Team’s Championship crowned the work of a serious and very dedicated group.

Based in England the Carlin team debuted this year in the F2 Championship already winning the first race with Lando Noris in addition to taking Sette Câmara, in this same round of Bahrain, to the two podiums. From then on several podiums and excellent results were achieved despite some mechanical and electronic problems that plagued the team during the year. Thus, with 383 points, the team has become the champion of the season.

“We have had a year with very impressive results, eight podiums over 12 rounds and, above all, I was able to show consistency and speed. Unfortunately, some problems with the car have taken away the real chances of fighting to be in the Top 3 in the Championship, but I finish the year with my head up and especially excited for the challenges ahead. I Thanks Carlin for the attention, care and all the work that we have developed together. Certainly this year will be marked in my career “, concluded the representative of YOUSE | BMG Bank | MRV | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG | Usiminas | Americanet | Lubrax.
