One week after a great performance in Paul Ricard, the Brazilian driver reaches the end of the first half of the season in Austria
After having a few days to rest and a lot of data to analyze, the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | BMG | MRV | CCR | CBMM | CEMIG | GASMIG | COPASA) is excited for the sixth stage of the F2 World Championship.
This weekend’s races will be held at the Red Bull Ring circuit in Austria and marks the middle of the Championship. Sérgio, who was the driver that scored the most last week, is in a good moment and is aiming to further reduce his gap against the leaders of the championship.
After leaving Paul Ricard’s track last Sunday, Sette and the DAMS team engineers headed to Le Mans, where on Monday they made a careful analysis of the weekend’s data. On Tuesday, already in preparation for Spielberg’s race, Sergio spent several hours on the simulator where he could practice on the Austrian track and, more than that, start adjusting the car setup for the weekend.
The Red Bull Ring circuit was built in the late 1960s when it was called Austria Ring. In 1995-96, under the care of the German architect Herman Tilke, it underwent a complete renovation and it started to be called A1 Ring. Years later the local energy drink giant acquired the rights to the name of the track used to this day. It has 4,326 meters in length and it is considered to be a high-speed track with fast turns, which have long radius high-speed tracing, despite not having long straights. During the full lap in the circuit, there are 30 gear changes and the driver spends an incredible 69% of the lap with full acceleration. The average speed is 210 km / h and the maximum reaches 290 km / h. The first race on Saturday will consist of 40 laps and the second, on Sunday, 28 laps.
“I’m excited for this weekend, the results in France were very positive, with the pole position, the podium on Saturday and Top5 on Sunday giving me 28 points in the Championship, our team is very united and good results always end up calling good results. Last week in France the temperatures were very high, but here in Austria, it is even hotter. We have two very particular situations here. There will be three DRS zones which increase the chances for overtaking, but the car suffers more under these conditions. I will continue to work with focus and humility and, God willing, we will leave here with a much lower difference to the leaders of the Championship, “commented the driver.
