Over the weekend, the consistent pilot scored in the races two and three and rose in the qualification.
This Sunday (12) was the end of the seventh round of the European F3 Championship with the valid races by the 19th, 20th and 21st stages of the continental competition. In his debut season in the competition, the Brazilian pilot Sérgio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil do Brasil | Lalubema,) from Belo Horizonte, had a round of a great evolution, ending the races two and three of the weekend in the score table and with such, rose to the 15th place of the Championship, having conquered 29 points.
The round started last Friday, with the free trainings and time trials. Serginho, who didn’t know the layout, quickly adapted to the traditional racing track and, along the technicians from the Motopark Academy team, searched the best adjustments for his Dallara/Volkswagen.
With a 13th place, with the best result of the trainings, the pilot was excited to go to the qualifying rounds. With a mark of 1m30s818 he got the 15th timing for the departure of the first race, but he knew he had yet to get the best out of his car. Then, in the second qualification, he kept going even faster and with that, he registered the ninth timing for the departure of the second race and the sixth place, for the last race of the round.
Serginho felt pretty excited and confident, and with renewed encouragement, he went to the first tryout. Starting on the eight line, the pilot had a great departure, and with five complete laps, he was already in the 11th position, when out of the sudden some issues caused his car to lose efficiency and all it was left to the competitor was to take the car to the pits. After that the team verified there was a problem in the mapping of the electronic core.
The second race of the round happened on Saturday evening. This time, with the car ready, the pilot did a great race. With a very good rhythm, he managed to get some important overtakings, cementing himself among the fastest of the track and crossing the line in the seventh position.
The third and last race of the weekend took place this Sunday. Departing from the third line, Serginho ended up losing a position in the departure, but he kept going strong in the first squad, in the seventh place. Unfortunately, the tryout was extremely troubled and with three entrances of the safety car it wasn’t possible for the pilot to gain more positions. Still, with plenty of edge, he withstand the attacks from the contestants and with that, he once again received the flag in the seventh place.
“We had a very fruitful weekend here in Holland. The team got a good adjustment, I adapted very quickly to the layout and we managed stay focus in our work. Our team made it today to the first victory in the European Championship, which made us all very happy and excited about the rest of the season. I’m excited about mine own and the team’s personal growth, and I’m sure that we’ll be back to the podium in a near future”, commented the 17 year-old pilot.
