Brazilian driver was invited by the Belgian team Boutsen VDS and will compete in a Mercedes-AMG
Next weekend, from September 19th to 21st, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy will host the eighth round of the GT World Challenge Europe. The competition, one of the most important in the world for Grand Touring cars, brings together brands like Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, Aston Martin, McLaren, among others.
Taking advantage of his free period from the Formula E World Championship, Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara was invited by the Boutsen VDS Motorsport team to join one of their cars in the endurance race. Alongside drivers Maxi Götz and Thomas Druet, he will face the challenges of a three-hour race.
Sérgio’s participation in the competition marks a new chapter for the young Brazilian driver who, throughout his career, has had the opportunity to drive some of the fastest cars in the world, such as F1, F2, IndyCar, Formula E, Super Formula, among others. In Grand Touring (GT) cars, Sette Câmara has already competed in several races of the Porsche Cup Brazil, and last July had his first experience in Rally Racing in a stage of the Mitsubishi Cup.
“I was very happy with the invitation from the Boutsen VDS team, in partnership with Mercedes-AMG, to compete in one of the team’s cars in the 2024 GT World Challenge Europe. In addition to my experiences in the world’s top single-seater cars, I have competed in some GT races in Brazil, in the Porsche Cup. Certainly, this opportunity in Monza, in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG, will be important for my career, both in learning about a different car and for the chance to race in a new championship. I am excited and hope to form a team with my teammates Maxi and Thomas that is capable of fighting for the top positions,” said the driver sponsored by Bet7K and MRV.
The race will start at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday (September 22) – Brasília Time – and will be broadcast live via streaming on the official category website, available at: https://www.gt-world-challenge-europe.com/watch-live.
