In his first season in the Championship, the pilot scored nearly 60 points and finished in 14th place
The 2015 European F3 Championship season came to an end this Sunday (the 18th). Competing for the German team Motopark Academy, the Brazilian pilot Sergio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil do Brasil / Lalubema) had a year of great progress and, with consistency, ended the season scoring at various races, going to the podium in two rounds and adding up 57.5 points.
The season began in April, in England and was also held in Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Portugal in a total of 11 rounds and 33 races. The disputes in this last round were held in the traditional Hockenheim Autodrome in Germany, when 33 cars were in the disputes.
Coming from an impressive upward curve, Sette Câmara has begun the training sessions showing competence and, in the first session, he achieved the third best time leaving everybody pretty excited.
“It is very good to start the work among the first pilots, but we should not delude ourselves. I went to the track in a special moment, when it was not completely wet, and most competitors trained under rain. In the second session we will see really how is our condition”, commented the 17-year-old pilot.
That situation was unreal, but Serginho and his team worked hard to tune the car in the second practice and followed for the taking of times. The condition of the Brazilian pilot’s car enabled him to extract all the power necessary to fight for first place and, with that, he assured the 12th position to the start of the first race, and the 11th, for the second and third races.
Each race of the round had different stories. The first of them Serginho was touched at the start and, as a result, he went down to the end of the platoon. In a make-up race he overcame 16 competitors and received the checkered flag in the 17th position. In the second race, after a good start, he won a position. In the course of laps he overcame two more competitors, but in the second half of the race, his car lost power. Extremely pressed by a competitor, Serginho showed all his boldness to hold his position for more than six laps and received the checkered flag in eighth place, scoring again. In the last race of the round a wrong bet by Motopark prevented the Brazilian to score again. The rain had stopped and several pilots changed to slick tires. Sette Câmara went to the track with rain tires and, unfortunately, the rain did not come back and, with this, he was forced to stop in the pits for to change the tires. Even though, he returned to the race, he was competitive and in the same 11th position he had started, he received his last European flag in 2015.
“I am very pleased with the season we had, for everything that I learned and, above all, by being able to put into practice what I assimilated. I’m sure that in the coming years all I’ve learned can be put into practice in any category in which I will be competing. I want to thank too much to my sponsors Mercantil do Brasil, Lalubema and all my relatives and the people who were by my side during this season”, ended the pilot.
