Circuit in the United States marks the fifth new track of the 2023 World Championship
The Formula E World Championship reaches its antepenultimate round of the 2023 season this weekend with the 12th race of the competition. The 22 drivers participating in the premier category of electric cars on the planet arrive in Portland, United States, with their sights set on the final stretch of the Championship.
Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara arrives with renewed enthusiasm for another challenge. Alongside the NIO 333 Racing team, the young driver from Belo Horizonte has prepared extensively through simulator tests and believes that he will have the opportunity to extract the best performance from his GEN3 (the new Formula E car) on the fastest circuit of the calendar.
Unlike almost all the rounds of the World Championship, where the races are held on street circuits, Formula E will compete on a racetrack in Portland. In a track that traditionally hosts Indy Car races, the drivers are excited to extract the maximum power from their cars and enjoy some benefits that are not normally available to them, such as a wide track and generous run-off areas.
“I’m excited to race on a racetrack again. On permanent circuits, we have the benefit of enjoying wide tracks, and in case of need, a run-off area is always welcome. Besides that, the track is very fast, and I identify a lot with this type of circuit. Our team has improved the car’s performance significantly, and especially in qualifying situations, we are several steps ahead of where we were at the beginning of the season. Our major challenge still lies in energy management during the races, but based on our simulator tests, I believe that we can find a situation here in Portland that favors us,” explained the driver of car #3.
Due to the time zone difference, the schedule in Portland will have attractive times for the Brazilian audience, who will be able to follow the activities on Friday night – first practice session, and on Saturday afternoon and night – second practice session, qualifying, and E-Prix. All activities will be broadcasted on the Grande Prêmio website’s YouTube channel. Additionally, the race will be shown on Band Sports and on the Band Play App.
