Seventh and eighth rounds of the Formula-E will take place at Tempelhoff airport in Germany
The Formula E World Championship lands this weekend in Berlin, Germany, when the seventh and eighth stages of the competition will happen. Representing the North American team, Dragon Penske, the Brazilian driver Sergio Sette Câmara arrives excited for the races after a good result in the Monaco e-Prix two weeks ago.
Competing this year in his second full season at the World Championship, Sette Câmara had his first official participation in the Formula-E exactly on the track of the Tempelhoff Airport. In August 2020, when the Pandemic was still haunting the entire world, the Championship created a kind of bubble and, in a nine-day interval; the six races that completed the season’s schedule were held. For this reason, returning to the track of the airport brings very remarkable memories to the driver from Belo Horizonte. “Competing in Berlin brings back some very good memories. This is where I started my career in Formula-E and, in a very cool way, I was very well received by everyone”, commented the 23-year-old driver.
The challenges of this fifth round of the Championship are quite different from what the drivers find in the other rounds. Despite being a “Double Header” competition, which means there will be races on Saturday and Sunday, the selective layout of 2,355 meters will be used in opposite directions. Thus, Saturday activities will be counterclockwise and, Sunday, clockwise. Coming from a good result in the e-Prix of Monaco, when he finished 13th, Sette believes he can fight for the first points of the year in Germany.
“Berlin is a track that I know well. It is a round that we run in two different directions and this mixes things up a lot. Although apparently it is the same because of the type of asphalt, temperature and external environment, the car’s hits change a lot from one day to the next. I believe the Berlin circuit is OK for our car. At Qualifying, I imagine that we can look for a slightly better starting position, but last year, in the races, we suffered a lot from energy consumption. The track is very wide, has many overtaking points and if you have to save energy, becomes a very easy target for opponents. We are in a constant evolution in the last rounds and we will search the best result”, concluded Sergio.
All the schedule of the weekend has Live Broadcast, whether on the Internet or TV channels as per the schedule below. In Formula-E, you can also help your favorite driver by voting for Fanboost available on the category’s website in fiaformulae.com.
