Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend Francis Morales, 24, against the wishes of their respective families. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s life and expresses her feelings in violent religious-themed postcards. Despite these contradictions, the young lovers settle into an exciting new life together. Their happiness is interrupted, however, when a freak accident leaves Francis physically and mentally injured. Soon, he suffers from night terrors: he whispers to Olivia’s invisible figure in his sleep and sleepwalks through strange corners of the house. These episodes frighten Olivia and also make her think that Francis may be hiding something from her. Her investigation leads to a horrifying and twisted discovery; they are haunted by the ghost of Francis’ childhood youth minister – a being enraged by their life together and come to punish them for their sins.
