In the second stage of the F2 World Championship the Brazilian driver made an excellent start and had to race under pressure
On Sunday morning (8) the Bahrain International Autodrome once again welcomed the F2 drivers for the second stage of the World Championship. With Carlin’s # 18 car, Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | Banco BMG | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG) once again had a good performance and finished the race on the podium in third place.

Just as he did in the race on Saturday, Sette Câmara had a spectacular start, jumping from seventh to third place. A car was stalled in the grid right in front of him, he managed to dodge it and quickly took a path which made it possible for him to gain positions even before corner one.

In a race without the mandatory pit stop the main objective of the driver was to seek the first positions trying to spare the tyres so that they are still competitive until the end of the 23 laps. With a good pace, the top four places remained the same up to half of the race when, with a different strategy, the leader Nyck De Vries (DUT) made a pit stop which placed him in the 13th place.

By this time, in the third position, Sérgio slowly came close to Michael Gunther (GER), who came in second, and also put a little distance from Lando Norris (ENG), his teammate who was just behind. With five laps to the end, Sérgio managed to reach the German and, for three laps, tried to attack him, but with good maneuvers Gunther was able to defend his position and with that, Noris also came close. Noris put a lot of pressure on the last two laps, but, in a precise way, Sérgio managed to foil his attacks and, with that, finished the race in the third position. Artem Markelov (RUS) won the race.

After the first two stages of the Championship, Sette Câmara now occupies the third position in the standings with 28 points. Markelov is second with 30 and Lando Norris leads with 41 points.

“It was a very different race than yesterday. I got another excellent start and then I kept a good pace, which helped me spare the tyres a little bit. I tried to attack Gunther for two straight laps, but he defended himself well and Lando caught up. Then I was in that awful position of attacking without leaving space to be overtaken. I managed to position myself well, hold Lando and secure the second podium of the weekend. I leave Bahrain with the sense of accomplishment. The Championship has 24 stages in which remaining among the first and scoring well will make all the difference in the dispute for title”, happily commented the YOUSE driver | BMG Bank | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG.
