Driver Sérgio Sette Câmara will race with helmet in honor of 115 years of the Clube Atlético Mineiro and the Arena MRV
This Saturday, March 25, the city of São Paulo will once again enter the history of motorsport in Brazil by hosting the first race of the Formula E World Championship in the country. The competition that brings together 100% electric vehicles and competes on the streets of the main cities of the world is in its ninth season and has as one of its stars the driver Sérgio Sette Câmara, from Belo Horizonte.
Serginho, as he is known in the tracks, had victorious passage for the main categories of junior motorsport. In his career he participated in the McLaren, Red Bull and Alpha Tauri teams in F1 and, since 2020, directed his career to Formula E competitions.
Coming from a family of “atleticanos” and son of the former president of the Clube Atlético Mineiro – Sérgio Sette Câmara (father), the driver decided to make this weekend’s race a tribute to the Club, which on the same day 25 will complete 115 years and, also, to the Arena MRV – stadium that is being built by the club with opening scheduled for April 15.
The helmet that Serginho will wear in the race had its visual identity idealized by the artist José Augusto Basílio and the painting executed by Starling Design, both from Belo Horizonte. The graphics shows, in general, the contours of the Arena MRV permeated by graphics in white, black and gray. In the sides a large number 7 refers to the name of the driver and, in the inner part of this number, the logo of the Clube Atlético Mineiro on one side and the already historic “Galo Volpi”, on the other. To complete, on the back of the helmet, the flags of Minas Gerais and Brazil permeated by the number 115 in the center of a symbol that refers to the logo of the club make the historical mention of the anniversary.
“I am very happy to race in Brazil for the first time since I started racing. Usually in their home races, drivers often pay homage to their home countries. However, as in my traditional helmet I already use the colors of the Flag of Brazil, I thought it would make sense to make a different and special tribute to “Galo” and also to MRV – a company that sponsors me for six years and gives name to the new stadium of my heart club. After the race this helmet will be donated to the collection of the Arena MRV and will be available for all fans to see closely the piece. I thank José Augusto and Bruno Starling for their work and I hope that the painting will give me a lot of luck in the race of Anhembi, this weekend”, concluded the 24-year-old driver.
The sixth stage of the Formula E World Championship will be played at 14:00 this Saturday, March 25, at the Sambódromo do Anhembi, in São Paulo. The last tickets are still on sale through the website eventim.com.br.
