São Paulo e-Prix at Anhembi Track to Open the 2024-25 Championship

The FIA World Council – Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile announced the official calendar for the 11th season of the premier electric car championship, the Formula E World Championship, on the morning of Tuesday, the 11th. Returning to a format used since the early editions of the competition, the season will kick off in December this year, thus naming the season 2024-2025.

According to the championship’s history, this will be the longest Formula E season, with 17 rounds scheduled between December 2024 and July 2025. The first official activity of the competition will take place from November 4 to 7 in Valencia, Spain, with the traditional pre-season testing round.

Several significant changes were announced to continue the championship’s tradition of introducing new elements each season. The first change is the return to the bi-annual calendar with the first race taking place in December 2024. Moreover, for Brazilian fans, this will be the second race of the year at the Sambódromo do Anhembi track in São Paulo, which hosted the third round of the current season last March.

Following the updates, the World Championship will visit 11 different countries. Notable changes include replacing Portland with Miami for the North American round, making the Monaco race a double-header in early May, and adding Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, as the 13th round in June. The Miami race will be held at Homestead-Miami Speedway. A significant absence, at least for now, is the Italian race, which in recent years took place in Rome and in 2024 at the Misano World Circuit. However, the March 8 date – the fifth round of the Championship – is marked as “to be announced,” and it may be a new Italian location.

Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara, who will be competing in his sixth Formula E World Championship in the 11th season, is very excited about the upcoming season. “I found today’s announced changes to the next Formula E World Championship calendar for season 11 very exciting. The Miami race has been added, Monaco becomes a double-header, and we will have the chance to race in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Additionally, Formula E returns to its original format, starting races in December of the previous year and ending in July. This is great for us because it allows us to avoid competing with any other major world championships for fans’ attention until the end of February, keeping us in the spotlight for three months. This attracts new audiences, especially since the first round will be in Brazil in 2024. The first and last rounds always have the most impact, and it will be no different for Formula E. I’m very excited,” concluded the driver, who is sponsored by Bet7K and MRV.
