In the only F2 event of the season separated from the F1, Sérgio Sette Câmara wants to score again
The 2017 F2 World Cup season is coming to an end. The Championship, which has already gone through nine countries between Europe and the Middle East, returns this weekend to Spanish soil for the penultimate round of the year. The 19th and 20th stages will be held at the Autodromo de Jerez de La Frontera in the Southwest region of the country.
Coming from two excellent results in Belgium and Italy, Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara (ACER | CCR | PALM DREAM | SANEPAV | TAESA | CEMIG | BELL) is very excited about the end of the season. The young driver, who until the seventh round of the year had not scored, now appears in 13th place with 43 points.
The F2 is a traditional competition preliminary to the F1, but this weekend’s F2 races will be held away from the paddock of the world’s most important motorsport category. While the F1 has races in Asia (Malaysia, Singapore and Japan) in September, October and November, and in the Americas (United States, Mexico and Brazil), the Formula 2 will dispute only this round, so it will be the main event of the weekend. Everyone on the track will also follow the GP3 Series and Euro Formula Open races.
The Autodromo de Jerez de La Frontera was inaugurated at the end of 1985 and has already received the World F1 and Moto GP races. The track is very fast, technical and, above all, safe. It is used regularly by several F1 teams in their preseason preparation. Its 4,428-meter layout has medium-speed characteristics. During a complete lap, 32 gear changes are made and 52% of the lap is performed in full throttle.
“Racing in Jerez will be a big challenge for me. I came from two excellent results at Spa and Monza and now I reach a track I have never driven on. I prepared myself a lot during the last days in the simulator and I kept a normal pace in my physical preparation. I believe our team is able to set me up with a competitive car. I want to focus on two results in the scoring zone, so I might go up a little more in the Championship, “said the 19-year-old.
