The Brazilian driver, Sérgio Sette Câmara, expects a good performance racing “at home”.
This weekend, between May 12 and 14, the Circuit de Barcelona, in Spain, receives the F2 World Championship for the second round of the season. After the races in Sakhir, Bahrain, the main feeder category to F1 arrives on one of the most well-known tracks for drivers and teams.
Living in Barcelona since 2014, while still competing in go-kart competitions, the Brazilian driver, Sérgio Sette Câmara (SANEPAV | TAESA | BELL), arrives at this competition with the feeling of competing at home. With great knowledge of the track, the driver ran in the F3 track and also in the pre season of the F2. He knows well every detail of the circuit .
The track of the Circuit de Catalunya is quite selective and offers to competitors different levels of difficulty along its 4,655 meters. Up and down slopes with little inclination are permeated by long straights and curves of different radii. The level of concentration is one of the highest in the season and the maximum attention of the driver is required throughout the lap.
In its debut season in the category, Sette Câmara’s main objective is to prepare an ideal setup for the car for both for qualifying conditions, with empty tank and soft tires, as well as for the race, with full tank and harder tires. After having achieved this goal, Sérgio believes that he can do a good job in order to finish well both races and, above all, in the scoring zone.
“This year each race will be a different learning experience, I have studied a lot with the team’s engineers and we have a lot of information that we brought from Bahrain and that can help us improve the performance of the car. This is because, at least as far as track knowledge is concerned, we do not have to worry. A very different characteristic here of Barcelona is the way tyres wear. Usually the greater consumption are in the rear tyres, but this is a track that is very demanding on the front tyres, especially the front-left. The drivers that can manage the tyre wear better will have greater success on the weekend.”said the 18-year-old.
