After qualifying in P10 for the first race, the pilot had the opportunity to compete for the first time with a wet track
During this long weekend the Hockenheim racetrack in Germany, hosted the second round of European F3 Championship. Thirty-five pilots from all regions of the world gathered at the traditional track for disputes of the fourth, fifth and sixth stages of the 2015 season. Making his first season in the Championship, by the Motopark Academy team, the Brazilian pilot Sergio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil do Brasil / Lalubema) lived a long weekend of learning.
The activities were initiated on Thursday when, with a dry track and firm weather, the pilots participated in the two official free official practice sessions and in the first taking of times. Sette Câmara, with his dedication and persistence ever, showed that he was prepared for the round and, facing opponents with even five seasons in the Championship, managed to achieve the 10th time for the start of the first race.
Satisfied with the position conquered, the pilot followed focused for the upcoming activities, which would be the second qualifying (valid for races two and three) and the first race, which was held on Friday, day one. What Sette Câmara could not imagine, however, was the great difficulty driving a F3 car in a wet track, mainly on a so competitive grid. The result was two undesirable results for the start of the races on Saturday and Sunday when he would have to start in the positions 25 and 32 respectively.
Aware of his condition of apprentice, but without losing the spirit of competitiveness, the pilot from Minas Gerais accelerated for the first race starting from the fifth row. There were three races where above all Sette Câmara accumulated mileage and knowledge of the equipment under wet track conditions. Even having left the track at one of the races he was able to go back and finish all three races in the 18th, 25th and 27th positions.
“I started this weekend fairly happy with the results of the practices and the first taking of times. The car was perfect in dry track and I adapted myself well to the track. Unfortunately, we did not expect so much rain during the activities that literally threw me a bucket of cold water. I had never driven under the rain with this car even with these Hankook tires. I did my best to adapt and meet the reactions of the car. Certainly, in a next opportunity I will have the possibility to do better. It’s part of learning”, commented the resigned pilot.
