Debuting with a Tony Kart chassis and Vortex engines, the pilot was among the top 20 in the final race
This weekend, between April 25 and 27, the LaConca International Circuit in MuroLeccese, Italy, received the WSK circus for the final and decisive stage of the Super Master Series. As the sole representative of Brazil in the KF category, the pilot from Minas Gerais, Sergio SetteCâmara (BancoMercantil do Brasil | CEMIG | TAESA | MBR | Tear Têxtil | Lalubema | PatrusTransportes | Milplan) made its debut inthe Morsicani Racing team.
Without ever having had contact with the Tony Kart chassis and Vortex engines the pilot experienced during all free practice sessions his first period of adjustment to the equipment. With a different driving style, the Brazilianpilot emphasized that the kart is much easier to drive, allows a less aggressive driving. The greatest difficulty, however, was on account of carburization. The model of the carburetor used by Morsicani is much more sensitive than that used by the old team and, thus,Serginhoneeded to find his best performance with this new reality.
Time trial was held on Friday’s afternoon, but unfortunately a problem in the engine/carburetor set prevented him from completing his ideal lap. With the time of 47s305,SetteCâmara managed only to achieve the 48th position. After three races of a lot of willing, great overtakings and determination the Morsicanipilot was having a good performance and was already among the 20 top pilots, but a problem in the last qualifying session prevented him from finishing the race , which caused him to stay with 66 points and the 43rd position.
Sunday was solely dedicated to thePre-Final and Final races. SetteCâmara, increasingly adapted to the kart, made an exceptional Pre race and, while gaining eight positions, he managed to qualify for the final race with the 32nd place on the grid. Very concentrated,Serginho went to the final race of the event. After a good start he climbed various positions. On the first lap he was in the 22ndposition and, two laps later, he was already on the 18th position when, suddenly, the engine of his kart stopped, in the middle of straight. Involved in a fierce fight, he ended up being touched by the kart of a competitor and finished the race in the run off area, after just four laps.
“Despite the result was notso good I was very satisfied with the work of Morsicani. We haveimproved the tuning of the kart and, at everypractice session, the attention to know every detail of the set was too great. We’re going to practice in the next few days and I am sure that already in the first stage of the Europe championship, within two weeks, we will be in direct fight to be in the Top10”, commented the 15-year pilot.
