A break in the engine, brake problems and suspected crack in the cockpit led pilot to his worst weekend of the season
The seventh triple round of European F3 Championship ended this weekend. Races valid for the 19th, 20th and 21st stages of the continental competition were held in the traditional race track of Spa-Francorchamps, in Belgium, Facing numerous technical problems in his car, the Brazilian pilot Sérgio Sette Câmara (Red Bull | Petrobrás | Cemig | Mercantil do Brasil) experienced his worst weekend of the season.
As usually, the round began with two free practice sessions when, for the first time, the Motopark Academy team could find a technical problem in Sette Câmara’s car. While his teammates were establishing times among the best on the grid, the Brazilian established laps almost two seconds slower than his teammates.
The team engaged in the quest for improving the conditions of the car for the two taking f times but, in front of a so unfavorable picture, the results were really disappointing. In the first qualifying session, with the time of 2m34s531 Sergio scored just the 17th time. In the second qualifying session, in which the times prevail for races two and three, the same 17th position was confirmed with one second and a half worse than that registered by the pole position.
In front of a so unfavorable picture, the Belo Horizonte pilot had little to achieve in the races. In a very high speed circuit, Sette Câmara did what his most in the three races but, unfortunately, the results were the worst possible: two 15 places and abandonment, when occurred the break of his Volkswagen engine in the second race.
“I’m very disappointed with what happened this weekend here in Spa. In fact it all bad things happened with our car here and, with my hands and feet tied, I just kept on track. Our car since the first practice was suspected of a crack in the cockpit, an item that cannot be changed during the weekend of competition and, to make things worse, we also had problems with the breaks and, to make things worse, the engine broke down in the final laps of the second race. I believe in the work and dedication of my team and I sincerely hope that they will be able to prepare, again, a fast and competitive car for the remainder of the season”, said the Red Bull Junior Team pilot.
