Brazilian driver Sergio Sette is back on the stage of his first victory in the category

The iconic Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium hosts this weekend’s round of the ninth double round of the F2 World Championship. The only F1 feeder category is coming to its final stretch with rising competitiveness among the drivers and showing an undefined leaderboard that offers good odds for the top competitors.

Currently in the third position of the standings with 141 points, Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | BMG | MRV | CCR | CBMM | CEMIG | GASMIG | COPASA) is having a very special moment in his career. In the direct fight for the first positions of the Championship, the young man from Belo Horizonte is completely adapted to the driving style of the DAMS car. He worked together with the engineers last week on different car tuning options and, in the modern Le Mans team simulator in France, everything has been tested to give the Brazilian the best performance on the track.

Sette Câmara’s relationship with the Spa track is very good. In his debut year in the F2, with the MP Motorsport team, he won his first race. Last year for Carlin, Sette returned to the Belgian podium, this time with the second position in the first race of the weekend.

“Spa is a track that every driver enjoys. I’m in a very positive moment of the Championship. I won my first F2 race here which in itself brings me very good memories. In 2018 I made a podium here in the first race and our team won Sunday’s race. I’m confident in a good result and my goal is to get as many points as possible. Let’s go to the top, “said the 21-year-old.

Spa-Francorchamps has the longest track of the Championship. On one hand, it makes racing more competitive and interesting for the public, on the other, the engineers have to work twice as hard. With such a long circuit, it is very difficult to achieve an ideal balance for the entire length, so drivers have to give their best on each lap. Altogether the track has 7,004 m with 19 turns. Cars spend 66% of the lap at full throttle and shift gears 30 times each lap. The current models of the F2 reach an impressive 315 km / h and the average lap is around 215 km / h. The first race will last 25 laps and the second 18 laps.
