Sérgio Sette Câmara, the track record-holder, will try to achieve a new title in his career.
For the 64th consecutive year, the streets of Macau, China, will hold the F3 Macau Grand Prix. The most traditional competition of the F3 World Championship, which since 2016 has the status of the F3 World Cup, will be held from Thursday (16) to Sunday (19) and will have the participation of more than 30 drivers from different parts of the world.
For the third time in his career, the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara will compete in this race. After having broken the track record in 2015 and been to the podium in the race last year, the 19-year-old believes he is ready for the coveted World Cup this year.
The Ghia Circuit, as the Macau track is known, is perhaps the largest and most challenging urban track in the world. Its total extension is of more than six thousand meters and, its main curves, really remember race tracks. However, this fast part always contrasts with a very winding sector in which the drivers even take some curves in first gear.
Despite regularly competing in the F2 World Championship, which he won in Belgium and was second in Italy, Sette Câmara accepted the invitation of the German team Motopark Academy to try to achieve the triumph in this competition. Sérgio competed with this team in the 2015 and 2016 seasons of the European F3 Championship and now he comes up as one of the invited stars for the event.
Sérgio will compete with the sponsorship of the Chinese company Vebet.com, one of the largest sports betting companies in the world. In addition, the Brazilian Institute CCR will be stamping the colors in his car. The official schedule will feature a free practice and a qualifying session on Thursday, same schedule to be followed on Friday. On Saturday the qualification race takes place with 10 laps and on Sunday the schedule will be completed, with the main event scheduled for 15 laps.
“I am very happy and grateful for the opportunity that Motopark and Vebet.com are giving me to return to an F3 car and try the F3 World Cup title. It is no secret that the Macau track is my favorite and so I will do my best to get this title in one of the most iconic places in my career”, said the driver.
