Formula 2 arrives this weekend in the capital of Azerbaijan.

After passing through Bahrain, Spain and Monaco the F2 World Championship arrives this weekend in Eastern Europe. In Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, the drivers and teams of the main feeder category to the F1, will have the races valid for the seventh and eighth stages of the Championship.

In his debut season in the F2, Sérgio Sette Câmara (PREDATOR Acer | SANEPAV | TAESA | BELL) will have a great challenge on the weekend getting to know the circuit. The track, set up on the streets of the city, is extremely long. They are more than six thousand meters in length with stretches of very high speed, as in the long straight leading to the start/finish line, passing through very crooked technical stretches, like the tight stretch between walls in curves 9 and 10.

In his preparation for this race Sette Câmara had several sessions in simulators, as well as keeping his focus on the physical and psychological preparation that he constantly receives in the High Performance Training Centre in the outskirts of Barcelona (ESP), where he lives.

“I can say that I’m very excited about this race. This Friday we will open a period of four rounds of the Championship in six weekends. Unfortunately, in Monaco, the mechanical problems did not allow me to race well. But here in Baku, everything is 100% finely tuned. My engineers and I talked a lot and I believe we have the conditions to be well positioned for this race. The characteristics of the track look a lot like Macau, the circuit I like the most. I’m focused on getting good results and I’m sure I can win my first points of the year here, “said the 19-year-old.

The tyres are a constant concern in F2. The ones that will be used in this stage will be the Pirelli Super Soft and Medium compound. Certainly, in the qualifier, the drivers will have the conditions to look for only one fast lap and, considering this, the concentration will be the key point for the pilots to get a better position. In Saturday’s race, at least one pit-stop is required and, on Sunday, it It is up to the team to decide what strategy they will use.
